Janbal Aboriginal Art Gallery is a true Aboriginal experience, come and learn about Aboriginal art and share Aboriginal culture through hands-on painting and storytelling experiences.

We invite you to visit Kuku Yalanji country in Mossman, just north of Cairns in Australia’s Far North Queensland. Come and create an authentic Aboriginal souvenir of your own whilst listening and sharing our culture with local Aboriginal artist and co-owner of Janbal Gallery, Brian “Binna” Swindley.

Janbal Gallery is open to the public for art classes, painting workshops and gallery sales from 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday.

Saturdays and Sundays we open by appointment only.

One Hour Workshops - Paint your own canvas or boomerang workshops only run at 9am and 3pm Monday to Friday.


You are welcome to take one of our art workshops and paint your own Aboriginal boomerang or canvas or you can simply browse through the gallery, learn about Binna’s mother, Shirley “Janbal” Swindley and Binna’s signature Yiki People.

Local authentic Aboriginal Art and Artifacts of Far North Queensland area are on sale at the Gallery, including hand-made jewelry.
